The Opportunity 

We are seeking an ambitious and committed Deputy Principal to work in close partnership with the Principal to lead the next phase of school improvement at Upwell Academy.

This is a pivotal leadership role with significant influence across the school. You will help drive high standards in teaching, learning and behaviour, while contributing strategically to the continued development of the school.

The role includes a 0.5 teaching commitment, enabling you to remain closely connected to classroom practice while having dedicated time to lead, develop staff and drive improvement.

As part of your responsibilities, you will take on the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the highest standards of care and protection for all pupils.

You will:

  • Support and lead whole-school improvement priorities
  • Develop and coach staff to improve teaching and learning
  • Promote a culture of high expectations and inclusion
  • Work collaboratively with families and the wider Trust
  • Model excellent classroom practice

About You 

You will be an inspirational and reflective leader who is passionate about making a difference.

You will have:

  • A degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven leadership experience within a school setting
  • A strong track record of improving outcomes for all pupils
  • Expertise in supporting pupils with a range of needs
  • The ability to motivate and develop others
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development
  • A clear ambition to grow as a senior leader
