Mowbray School is looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Teacher of Design and Technology for our Bedale SITE.

Mowbray Special School is based over 2 sites. The main school is situated in Bedale and caters for children aged 3 to 16. The Satellite School is in Ripon and provides an education for children aged 3 to 11, this was opened to pupils in January 2020. We currently have over 294 pupils on role across both sites, 53 at Ripon, and are the largest special school in North Yorkshire.

We want to appoint someone who will make a significant contribution to our Design & Technology offering within our secondary department. We are looking for a knowledgeable, skilled and committed teacher with the enthusiasm to support students with special educational needs.

Ideally you would be competent and adaptable across the range of disciplines at KS3 & KS4 however this post is mainly as a Teacher of Design and Technology in the first instance.

The successful candidate should have considerable expertise in SEND, experience of working with children with difficulties in communication and interaction and be an excellent secondary practitioner. It is essential that you have a desire to work with SEND pupils.

Mowbray Special School is based in Bedale and is a thriving, caring and popular school educating over two hundred and twenty children aged 3 to 16 years with a variety of learning difficulties. We are designated as an MLD school, our school population includes pupils with the following needs ASD; SEMH; SLCN; SLD; PD; VI and HI.

Mowbray is a North Yorkshire County Council co-educational special school and has two sites, one in Bedale for pupils aged three years to sixteen years and another in Ripon for pupils aged three years to eleven years. Both sites have a warm and welcoming community of staff and pupils who strive to make each other feel part of our community.

We serve a very large catchment area covering 1,400 square miles from Stockton on Tees to Harrogate, with over 290 pupils currently attending both sites from both rural and urban areas, as well as military bases. Our site in Ripon serves pupils predominantly from the districts of Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough.
