Design and Technology Technician job summary
- Role: Design and Technology Technician- Temporary up to 1 year
- Full time/Part time: Term Time Only
- Working Hours: 36 hours per week 08:30am-4.30pm (Monday-Friday)
- Salary Grade: NJC Scale 4, SP7 to SP10 (currently £28,346 to £29,591 per annum)
- Reporting to: Head of Visual Arts and Design Technology
- Commencing: September 2026
Applications are invited for a highly organised, knowledgeable and suitably qualified Technician to join our large, friendly and successful Design and Technology department at Burntwood School - an Academy for Girls. Working under the direction and guidance of the Head of Visual Arts and Design Technology. The successful candidate will provide a high level of technical and administrative support to the subject areas of 3D/Product Design, Textiles, Graphics and Food Technology in large and extremely well-equipped facilities.
This role is crucial to the effective delivery of our broad and creative curriculum and the two Technicians (Art and DT) are key members of a highly collaborative and supportive team.
The ability and commitment to work both independently and as part of a team with a flexible and versatile approach is essential to this demanding and varied role. Respectful relationships between staff and students are central to the school’s positive ethos and make this an exciting and fulfilling school to work in.
