Salary: £55,293 per annum (negotiable for the right candidate)

Contract Type: Permanent, 42 weeks a year ( 39 weeks Term time + 3 weeks in school closure periods and evenings when safeguarding matters arise).

Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm

Staff Wellbeing: We have a very well thought of staff wellbeing that focusses on allowing staff to concentrate on their work without unnecessary impediment. In addition to this there is a range of supportive measures such marking from home, wellbeing events and staff celebrations.

The Role: The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school. The post holder will act as the central contact for safeguarding concerns, ensuring robust systems, culture, and practice that protect children and support staff.

Although line-managed by the Deputy Headteacher (who holds the statutory DSL designation), this role will be accountable for day-to-day safeguarding leadership, case management, and compliance with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead safeguarding and child protection across the school inline with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
  • Promote a strong culture of safeguarding, ensuring all students feel safe and listened to.
  • Act as first point of contact for safeguarding concerns raised by staff, pupils or parents.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Headteacher (DSL), Headteacher, governors, and external partners to develop and implement safeguarding strategy.

  • Experience of managing safeguarding in a school or other relevant organisations.
  • Expert knowledge of legislation and guidance on safeguarding and working with young people, including knowledge or the responsibilities of schools and other agencies.
