What skills and experience we're looking for

Fowey River Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Technician to join our friendly and dedicated team.

As a Design Technology & Catering Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning across the Design Technology and Catering team. Working closely with teaching staff, you will prepare, organise and maintain specialist equipment, materials and resources, ensuring practical lessons are delivered safely, efficiently and effectively.

You will be responsible for maintaining workshops, kitchens and associated equipment to a high standard, supporting practical demonstrations, monitoring stock levels, ordering resources and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, including COSHH, food hygiene and equipment maintenance. You will also assist in the preparation of displays, practical assessments and examination materials where appropriate.

The role requires a proactive and organised individual who can work collaboratively with staff to provide an engaging and well-resourced learning environment.

We are looking for someone who:

Perform duties in line with health and safety regulations and take action where hazards are identified, including reporting any serious hazards to the line manager or teacher.

Supports the curriculum and the school through the provision of high level assistance to the teacher.

Maintain sufficient supplies of materials to enable delivery of lessons.

Builds positive relationships with pupils and colleague, promoting high expectations and excellent behaviour.

Is an effective communicator, works well as part of a team.

Can provide clerical and administrative support as directed;
