What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking an organised, proactive and enthusiastic Design & Technology Technician to support the day-to-day running of the Design & Technology department in a busy school. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing practical resources, maintaining workshop equipment and materials, ensuring a safe working environment, and supporting staff and students during practical lessons.
We are keen to hear from you if you have:
- a strong commitment to supporting high-quality teaching and learning by maintaining a safe, organised, and well-equipped Design & Technology workshop environment
- excellent organisational, communication, and practical IT skills, with the ability to prepare materials, maintain equipment, manage stock effectively, and keep accurate records
- experience working in a Design & Technology workshop, educational setting, or a practical technical support role (desirable)
- the ability to prepare resources confidently, maintain and service workshop equipment, follow health and safety procedures, prioritise competing demands effectively, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the Design & Technology department

Dartford Grammar School is a selective secondary academy for boys, which admits girls to its sixth form. There are six forms of entry to Year 7, and all of the students joining the school are from the top 25% of the ability range. The students come from Dartford, neighbouring towns and villages, and nearby London boroughs. The current roll is 1,532, including 616 in the sixth form.
