Help Our Youngest Learners Flourish!

Are you a compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated Early Years practitioner? St Peter’s Catholic Primary School is looking for an Early Childhood Practitioner to join our team, working initially within our 2-year-old provision to support the academic, social, and emotional development of our youngest children.

Hours - 15 per week - Monday to Friday - 2:30pm to 5:30pm

Term time only plus 5 additional days

About the Role

Working under the direction of teaching staff, you will provide effective support to maximize the progress, well-being, and inclusion of individual pupils and small groups.

Key Responsibilities:

Pupil Support: Supervise and assist children (including those with SEND, personal needs, or EAL) to access learning activities safely and confidently.

Personal Care & Well-being: Attend to pupils' personal, welfare, and health needs (including toileting, dressing, and feeding) while implementing personal care and behaviour plans.

Learning & Interventions: Deliver targeted learning activities and bespoke interventions (such as speech and language, phonics, and social skills development).

Classroom Support: Assist with creating purposeful environments, preparing learning resources, developing displays, and monitoring pupil progress.

Safeguarding & Inclusion: Promote child safety, maintain confidentiality, and foster an inclusive environment that encourages independence and self-esteem.

School Ethos: Actively contribute to the overall aims, Catholic ethos, and wider life of the school community.

Who We Are Looking For:

We are seeking a proactive and caring team player who possesses:

A full and relevant Level 2 (or above) Early Years qualification listed on the DfE Early Years Qualification List.

GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade A*-C / 9-4 (or equivalent Level 2 literacy/numeracy qualification).

Safeguarding Level 1 training and a Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Experience working with or caring for young children in an early years setting.

Strong communication skills, including clear spoken and written English.

An understanding of child development, the EYFS guidance, and safeguarding procedures.

A flexible approach and a commitment to supporting the values and ethos of our school.
