We are looking for a warm, caring and enthusiastic Early Years Support Worker (Teaching Assistant) to join our Early Years team at Millbrook Primary School.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to play an important part in their learning, development and wellbeing. You will work alongside experienced Early Years practitioners and teachers to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can play, explore, learn and develop their confidence and independence.

About the role

As an Early Years Support Worker, you will work as part of our professional Early Years team, supporting children with their education, social development and care.

You will help children to:

• develop positive relationships and social skills;
• become increasingly confident and independent;
• communicate and interact with others;
• explore and learn through play and engaging activities;
• develop physically, emotionally and socially;
• manage their behaviour and emotions in an age-appropriate way;
• develop the skills and confidence they need for their next steps.

The role will also involve supporting children with their personal care and daily routines, including mealtimes, dressing and hygiene, always encouraging children to do as much as they can for themselves.

You will help prepare and organise activities and learning environments, ensuring resources and equipment are safe, clean and ready for children to use. You will also contribute to observations and assessment, sharing information with colleagues to help us understand and support each child's development.

Building positive relationships with parents and carers is also an important part of the role, ensuring that relevant information is shared appropriately and that families feel welcomed and involved.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

• loves working with young children and is genuinely interested in Early Years;
• is warm, patient, caring and nurturing;
• understands the importance of play, relationships and positive interactions in children's development;
• can build trusting and appropriate relationships with children;
• is able to respond calmly and sensitively to children's individual needs;
• encourages children to develop their confidence and independence;
• can support positive behaviour in a caring and consistent way;
• works well as part of a team and is happy to learn from experienced colleagues;
• communicates well with children, colleagues and families;
• is reliable, organised and takes pride in providing a high standard of care;
• understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

A relevant Early Years, childcare or Teaching Assistant qualification would be desirable, but we would also welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience who are keen to develop their skills and knowledge.
