What skills and experience we're looking for

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an experienced EYFS teacher, demonstrating exemplary classroom practice and maintaining high standards of achievement and conduct, with up-to-date knowledge of EYFS curriculum and framework changes.
  • Build Strong Foundations: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the ‘Strong Foundations’ framework and its direct implications on daily practice to ensure every child has the best start to their education.
  • Enhance high-quality interactions: Know how to develop, model, and direct high-quality interactions for all adults in the classroom, ensuring that every adult-child exchange is purposeful and enhances learning.
  • Champion oracy: Demonstrate a clear understanding of oracy development. You will be skilled in implementing adaptations that support all learners, including those with additional needs, in developing communication and language skills.
  • Drive progress: Secure high rates of progress through engaging, research-informed and purposeful play-based learning.
  • Maintain a safe, stimulating and rich environment that optimises every child's potential through an up-to-date knowledge of the EYFS curriculum.
  • Take responsibility and use ongoing assessments to measure progress and adapt teaching and learning.
  • Have experience of curriculum subject leadership.
  • Be hard-working.
  • Be supportive of our Catholic ethos and mission.

The governors of St Michael’s Catholic Primary School wish to appoint an exceptional, experienced and dedicated Early Years teacher to join the team at this well-established, popular and happy school.

This is a permanent position for an experienced practitioner who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to the unique and vibrant nature of Early Years education. It would not be suitable for an early careers teacher.

The successful candidate will be a practising Catholic and/or demonstrate a commitment to support the Catholic ethos of our school.

The school is committed to safeguarding and the post will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check, a Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations check and references. Candidates must also comply with the Asylum and Immigration Act.
