Early Years Teaching and Learning Support Assistant job summary

Salary £25,184 - £26,402 (pro rata). 30 hours per week. Term time only.

The Governors of Our Lady & St Benedict are looking to appoint an Early Years Teaching & Learning Support Assistant to work amongst our school’s small and committed staff team. The successful candidate will support the teacher, parents and other colleagues to help create an effective, safe and purposeful learning environment. You would be required to cover an after school club and some lunchtime duties within the role and the hours. NVQ Level 3 qualification is required.

Applicants should have experience of working in a primary school.

Our new Early Years Teaching & Learning Support Assistant will:

  • Be committed to actively upholding the catholic ethos of our school
  • Implement planning learning/activities & teaching programmes
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities in an Early Years environment, enhancing children’s social & educational development.
  • Assist other staff with assessment procedures to ensure children’s progress
  • Understand and support independent learning & inclusion of all pupils is required
  • Work with pupils for whom English is not their first language
  • Be a good and better classroom practitioner, committed to raising standards
  • Assist other staff with the assessment procedures to ensure children’s progress is satisfactory.
  • Be creative, imaginative and innovative
  • Have high expectations of pupil achievement, attainment and behaviour
  • Assist in escorting and supervising pupils on educational visits and out of school activities.
  • Be a strong team player
  • Have good communication skills at all levels
