What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated ECT French Teacher to join our outstanding teaching team. You will be responsible for teaching French to students in Years 7 to 11, with the potential of 6th form, delivering engaging and inspirational lessons that develop and engage our students with a love for language learning. You will be a part of a forward-thinking, collaborative and supportive department that values innovation in teaching and a commitment to student success. We are looking for a team player who will help us to develop and shape the next phase of our journey to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality French lessons to students in Years 7-11, adhering to the national curriculum.
- Inspire students to engage deeply with reading, writing, listening and speaking.
- Assess and monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to help them achieve their personal and academic goals.
- Foster a classroom environment based on mutual respect, inclusivity, and a love of learning.
- Participate in departmental and whole-school initiatives to promote languages and student development.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school community through extracurricular activities or pastoral support.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Strong subject knowledge of French, with the ability to teach up to GCSE level.
- A passion for teaching and learning, with a commitment to student progress and achievement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- An understanding and appreciation of the school’s Christian ethos and values.

Crawley has fantastic transport links sitting halfway between Croydon and Brighton on the M23 corridor. The school operates a minibus service for staff at the start and end of the day serving the three stations in Crawley (Ifield, Crawley and Three Bridges). The school is also the most well connected by bus of the six secondary schools in this area.

Our MFL Department offers the opportunity to join a growing team and contribute to a developing dynamic curriculum. You would be part of a strong faculty helping to inspire a curiosity of languages across the school. The French Department sits within the wider Humanities and Languages Area, which provides the benefits of working collaboratively across many subjects within the school.
