Education Welfare Officer job summary

John Whitgift Academy are looking to appoint an Education Welfare Officer to join our academy in October 2026 on a full time, permanent basis.

Your new role

As an Education Welfare Officer (EWO), you will provide a service for students and their families. You will ensure, with others, that students receive education appropriate to their needs by regular attendance at the academy, assisting them to obtain maximum benefit from their education and be involved in the development of the service and staff.

How would you like to join a rapidly expanding academy which is heading towards outstanding. Our student numbers are increasing year by year and we are the highest performing academy in North East Lincolnshire and are in the top 4% of the most improved academies in the country. As an academy we are continually building on our strengths and are proud to have the highest of expectations.

We currently have over 900 students on role aged 11 - 16. Our academy is situated close to the A180 making it ideal for commuting. Despite being one of the most rapidly growing academies in North East Lincolnshire, due, primarily to our success and outcomes over recent years, relationships between students and staff are excellent and we have maintained a small school friendly atmosphere. Behaviour in our academy is very good with a relentless focus upon learning and aspiration.

In addition, we are fortunate to have some outstanding facilities that help to further enhance the quality of teaching and learning, such as, an Engineering block, 2 full size swimming pools and a 207-seater cinema.
