English Teacher job summary
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed English teacher
who has a high expectation of students and themselves and who will motivate and
inspire pupils to achieve their best.
The Latymer School is an oversubscribed high achieving, but caring,
Grammar School in North London. Visitors comment on the warm atmosphere and the
high levels of participation in extra-curricular
activities that encourage students to foster and nurture their skills and
interests beyond the confines of the curriculum. We are proud of our inclusive
school community and there is a real passion for teaching and learning in a
supportive and welcoming atmosphere that inspires risk-taking and creativity.
As a school, we are committed to developing the whole person and it is a place
where you can really engage students in their learning and develop as a
teacher.
The English Department is a
thriving and well organised department that is impressively resourced to
provide a supportive working atmosphere for staff. Curricula across all the key
stages seek to challenge and stimulate all students and the department has a
consistent record of excellent results with 83% of pupils gaining 7 or above in
GCSE English Language and 95% of pupils gaining 7 or above in GCSE English
Literature. English is also a popular subject at A Level and students continue
to excel with 90% achieving A*-B in English Literature with many of them going
on to read English at university.
The post vacancy commences
in January 2023 and is expected to end at the end of December 2023, applications are welcome from both
experienced and newly qualified teachers able to teach throughout the age and
ability range including Key Stage 5. The post might also suit a recent English
graduate or similar degree.
