Are you passionate about inspiring young minds through the power of literature and language? We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic English Teacher to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity for an individual who is not only passionate about teaching English but also looking to take on leadership responsibilities as a Key Stage Coordinator. The Role:
As an English Teacher with Key Stage Coordinator responsibilities, you will:
- Lead and manage the English curriculum across your designated Key Stage (KS3/KS4/KS5).
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that promote a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking.
- Develop and monitor schemes of work to ensure they are challenging, inclusive, and tailored to students’ needs.
- Support and mentor students, ensuring their academic and personal growth.
- Work closely with senior leadership to drive school improvement and achieve outstanding outcomes for students.
- Lead on assessment and progress tracking, ensuring all students meet their potential.

The English Department is a large department, comprising ten subject specialists. The department offers English and English Literature at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE English and GCSE English Literature. English Literature is offered at A Level. We are committed to sharing our passion for the subject and take pride in promoting a love of Literature and encouraging students to relish the infinite complexity of language.
Classes at all Key Stages 3 and 4 are taught in broad sets to allow our students to work to the highest level that each can attain. The department has its own iPads and interactive whiteboards, and has access to a wide range of ICT resources. A love for literature is fostered through the enthusiasm and expertise of our specialist staff, with plenty of opportunities for discussion, as we place a high value on each student's personal response.
Each student has access to a rich cultural experience as we offer the opportunity to participate in an extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities. Every year the department organises many theatre trips and study days for KS5 students. We also arrange a programme of in-school Drama workshops, talks and writing workshops by visiting authors, as well as a wide range of lunch time clubs to cater for all enthusiasms.

Warlingham School is a thriving 11-18, mixed, comprehensive school situated on the fringe of Surrey and Greater London. The school converted to academy status in November 2012, as a ‘stand-alone’ school and then joined with four Primary Schools in May 2017 to form a cross-phase MAT - Tandridge Learning Trust. It was built in 1954 and occupies a large, attractive site on a campus which includes Hamsey Green Primary School.
