Hawthorn Academy is looking for a proactive Estates and Facilities Manager to ensure our school environment is safe, secure, and well-maintained. This role is key to supporting high-quality teaching and learning by managing the school’s premises, health and safety compliance, and physical resources.
You will
- Lead the estates and facilities function across the school.
- Manage contractors and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Carry out minor repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment tasks.
- Oversee cleaning, security, and site access arrangements.
- Support strategic estate planning and capital project delivery.
- Monitor energy usage and maintain compliance records.

About the Role
- Maintain and develop the school site, buildings, and grounds
- Act as main keyholder and manage security systems
- Ensure compliance with H&S regulations, including fire safety, asbestos, and legionella checks
- Carry out risk assessments and lead emergency drills
- Manage cleaning schedules and liaise with contractors
- Oversee fleet vehicle maintenance and site access for contractors
- Support budget management and procurement for estates projects
About you
- GCSE English and maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance
- Experience in site management, maintenance, or facilities roles
- Ability to carry out minor repairs and DIY tasks
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly and respond to emergencies
