Estates Business Partner - Facilities job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced estates, facilities or maintenance professional to play a key role in ensuring our schools provide inspiring, safe and well-maintained environments where pupils and staff can thrive.

Working across our family of schools, you will lead the delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance, manage our team of Premises Assistants, support the implementation of the Trust's Estates Strategy and contribute to the successful delivery of capital improvement projects.

No two days will be the same. From managing urgent repairs and developing preventative maintenance programmes to supporting Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) bids and overseeing refurbishment projects, you will have a direct impact on the quality and sustainability of our estate.

As Estates Business Partner - Facilities, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance across all Trust schools.
  • Line manage and support school-based Premises Assistants.
  • Implement and monitor the Trust's Estates Strategy and maintenance plans.
  • Manage maintenance contractors and ensure value for money.
  • Support the development of capital funding bids and improvement projects.
  • Oversee estates projects from planning through to completion.
  • Build strong relationships with Headteachers, School Business Managers and Trust leaders.
  • Help ensure work is delivered in accordance with Trust policies, statutory requirements and health and safety expectations.

Whilst the role is not responsible for managing compliance or health and safety systems, you will work closely with the Trust's compliance leads to ensure all maintenance and project activities are undertaken within the required framework.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Significant experience within estates, facilities, construction or maintenance management.
  • Experience managing maintenance programmes across multiple sites.
  • Experience of contractor management and procurement.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Experience of leading and developing staff teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to balance strategic planning with operational delivery.
  • A commitment to high standards, continuous improvement and customer service.

Experience within schools, academies, local government or the wider public sector would be advantageous, although applications from other sectors are welcomed.

At Isle Education Trust, we believe excellent schools require excellent support services. This role provides a unique opportunity to shape and improve a diverse estate that supports thousands of pupils and staff every day.

We offer:

  • The opportunity to make a significant difference across multiple schools.
  • A varied and rewarding role with both strategic and operational responsibilities.
  • A collaborative and supportive leadership team.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Flexible and agile working arrangements where appropriate.
  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Access to employee wellbeing and benefits programmes.
