Exam Invigilators job summary

About this Role

We are seeking Exam Invigilators to support the Exams department, upholding the rules of the examination and supporting students to successfully sit their exams. 

This role is ideal if you're looking for flexible work that can fit around other commitments, whether you're retired, returning to work, studying, or simply looking for additional income.

You will need to be reliable, a good timekeeper, responsible, have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.  No experience necessary as full training will be given. The role requires prolonged periods of standing. 

The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification, will be required to have an enhanced DBS check and will have applied via the school application form.  Ringwood School is committed to safeguarding students.  We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.  

Exams take place across the whole year with the main exam season taking place from early May to the end of June. There are usually ten sessions per week in the main exam season and we ask our invigilators to commit to a minimum of 15 sessions across the 6 weeks of the main season.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supervising students during examinations

  • Ensuring examination regulations and procedures are followed at all times.

  • Preparing examination rooms before candidates arrive.

  • Distributing and collecting examination papers and materials.

  • Assisting with the start and finish of examinations.

  • Maintaining a calm and secure examination environment.

  • Reporting any irregularities to the Exams Officer.

  • Be punctual, dependable, and professional.

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Be able to follow procedures accurately and consistently.

  • Remain calm under pressure and maintain confidentiality.

  • Be available during key examination periods throughout the school year.

Previous invigilation experience is welcome but not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided.
