Exam Invigilators job summary
We are recruiting for Exam Invigilators to join our friendly Exams team. The busiest period is during May and June, when we have public (GCSE and A Level) exams and internal school exams. We also run exams in December (2 weeks) and February (2 weeks), with some one-off exams running at other times in the school year. Required working hours and patterns will vary during these periods, according to the exam timetables.
As an invigilator, you will be responsible for ensuring that exams are conducted in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) awarding body regulations and Parmiter’s processes. You will play a key role in upholding the integrity of the examination process.
Duties will include the distribution and collection of exam materials at the start and end of the exam, supervision of candidates at all times, remaining vigilant throughout examinations and recording and reporting any irregularities.
Ofsted (July 2024) “Pupils’ conduct and manners are exemplary. They help and support their peers to do well. It is common practice to hold doors open for others and behave in a friendly, courteous manner. Adults enforce clear learning routines.”
Ideally, invigilators will be available between Thursday 9 May and Friday 20 June to cover the 2025 public exam period.
Candidates are welcome to contact admin@parmiters.herts.sch.uk to discuss the role prior to application.
We can offer the successful candidate:
Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
Staff well-being initiatives including an online GP service, Employee Assistance Programme, subsidised use of on-site electric vehicle charging and complimentary use of our fitness suite.
Lovely school grounds in leafy surroundings with ample parking.
Parmiter’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all members of staff to share this commitment. Applicants must declare any criminal convictions as the post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Appointments will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via the Disclosure and Barring Service and references from previous employers. We are required to conduct online searches for shortlisted candidates in accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance in order to identify any incidents or concerns which are publicly available online. We are an Equal Opportunities employer.
