Examinations Officer job summary

Work where it matters most, achieve what matters more

Be part of a team where passion meets purpose, as we work together where the challenge is greatest to change the lives and build the futures of children and young people.

We are looking for a highly organised, calm and meticulous Examinations Officer to join our team. Reporting to our Assistant Principal, you'll take the lead on the smooth and secure running of all internal and external examinations, in line with JCQ and awarding body regulations. You'll plan and work to our annual exams calendar, manage entries, amendments and fees, and receive, check and securely store confidential papers. You'll organise timetables, rooming and seating plans, recruit, train and deploy our team of invigilators, and work closely with our SENCo to put access arrangements in place for students who need them. On exam days you'll make sure everything runs by the book, handling any unexpected issues calmly, and afterwards you'll manage results days, post-results services and the issue of certificates.

We'd love to hear from you if you have experience of exams administration, ideally in a school or similar setting - but if you have strong administrative skills and are keen to learn, we'll support you to build your knowledge of the JCQ regulations. You'll hold GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent), be confident using ICT and online systems, and have a sharp eye for detail that ensures deadlines are met and nothing is missed. You'll treat confidential information with the utmost care and take an ethical, proactive approach to protecting the integrity of the exams process. Just as importantly, you'll be a warm, approachable communicator who builds good relationships with students, parents and colleagues at all levels, and stays calm and effective under pressure. Experience of working with young people aged 11-16 would be a real bonus.
