We are seeking caring, enthusiastic and dedicated EYFS and KS1 Teaching Assistants to join our team. The successful candidate will support children in a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive learning environment that promotes curiosity, confidence and a love of learning.
You will work closely with the class teacher in either a Reception or Key Stage 1 class to support children’s learning, development and wellbeing in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework or KS1 Programme of Study
Key Responsibilities
- Support the learning and development of children through play-based and adult-led activities
- Observe, record and contribute to assessments of children’s progress
- Provide individual and small-group support, including for children with SEND or additional needs
- Support the class teacher to create a safe, inclusive, well-organised and purposeful learning environment
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding responsibilities
- Promote positive behaviour and social development
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents and carers
Essential Qualities and Skills
- A warm, patient and nurturing approach to working with children
- A genuine passion for Early Years or Primary Education and child development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents
- Good understanding of the EYFS framework and child development (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A calm, flexible and positive attitude
- Reliability, professionalism and a strong work ethic
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
Desirable (but not essential)
- Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 in Early Years or Childcare)
- Previous experience working in an EYFS and or/KS1 setting
- Knowledge of supporting children with additional needs
