What skills and experience we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young children in an EYFS setting
  • Understands child development and the importance of early relationships and play
  • Brings positivity, energy and emotional sensitivity to every interaction
  • Is proactive, flexible and keen to learn
  • Shares our belief thatevery child deserves to enjoy, explore and learn

This is a key role within our Early Years Foundation Stage team. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school staff to nurture children’s early development through play, exploration and strong, caring relationships.You will:

  • Support the learning, care and development of Reception children in line with the EYFS framework
  • Help create and maintain a purposeful, engaging and inclusive environment – both inside and outside
  • Support children’s personal, social and emotional development through warm, responsive interactions
  • Deliver targeted support for children with additional needs, including personal care where required
  • Encourage a “have a go” attitude through curiosity, creativity and sustained shared thinking
  • Support the development of early communication, language, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Contribute to observations, assessments and planning to ensure every child thrives

While the role is primarily based in Reception, flexibility to support across other key stages may be required.

Greenholm Primary School is a 3 forms of entry primary school based on the Kingstanding and Great Barr border. The school has expanded in the last few years due to adding the third year group. We have also recently expanded our site and acquired a five acre field, which is attached to the land. We have been steadily developing this in to a petting farm & growing space. The school was last inspected by Ofsted and graded Good with some areas of significant strength.
