Family Liaison & Education Officer - 20 hours per week, 5 x mornings 8.45-12.45pm

Permanent - Term time only, plus 5 training days, Level 3 SCP 7 -11

We are looking for a kind, committed and approachable Family Liaison Officer to join our inclusive village school. This role is predominantly about building good relationships with our families, so that there is a strong link between school and home, leading to good pupil outcomes in all areas of school life. You will be liaising and communicating with families daily, as well as managing attendance and admissions. As one of the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs), you will be expected to respond to safeguarding concerns with sensitivity and confidence, following all relevant safeguarding policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to demonstrate creativity and flexibility in their approach to engaging families, identifying family strengths, assessing their needs and supporting them to make sustainable, positive change.
  • Be able to manage and monitor school attendance and admissions
  • Already have or able to undertake relevant safeguarding training at a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) level
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with children, families, staff and wider professionals.
  • Have experience of working with and engaging children and young people with complex needs.
  • Be able to work both collaboratively within a team, as well as independently, using own initiative.
  • Promote and support positive mental health and wellbeing for all stakeholders
  • Support at lunchtimes, promoting healthy eating, good hygiene and appropriate table manners

They must also demonstrate the following

  • Be sensitive, empathetic and patient
  • Be flexible, adaptable and resilient, with a sense of humour
  • Understand the challenges our families face
  • Know how to access other multi agency networks in which to gain support for families
  • Able to lead training and workshops for families, including Parent Forum
  • Have a clean driving license and be prepared to drive own vehicle when required
