What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a person who:

  • Can make supportive and strategic decisions for pupils and parents across the school with confidence.

Including, but not limited to:

- Supporting parents

- Attending Child Protection Conferences and other meetings

- Delivering Family Support Plans

- Providing lunchtime support for vulnerable pupils

- Delivering parenting workshops

- Working closely with the school’s ELSA and Safeguarding Team

- Leading difficult and honest communications with parents and other agencies

  • Understand the need for maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Offer emotional and practical support to parents/carers, children and families by building trusting relationships.
  • Work alongside agencies to assess the needs of families referred for support.
  • Keep high quality records and assist with the preparation of reports.
  • Act as a point of contact for families in need of support.
  • Provide pastoral support to children.
  • Encourage children to interact and engage with activities and learning and develop children’s confidence and self-esteem.
  • Is reflective in their practice and dedicated to continually developing themselves and others.
  • Can work collaboratively with other leaders to make decisions.
  • Understands the need to be flexible in approach and react appropriately to last-minute changes.
  • Is able to support teachers and teaching assistants with emergencies that arise.
  • Has excellent communication skills and can use these with all stakeholders, including parents.
  • Has excellent organisational skills and can use these to prioritise tasks.
  • Has an unwavering commitment to improving the life chances of all pupils.
