Finance Assistant job summary

Join Our Growing Trust Team

Brighter Futures Educational Trust is seeking a highly organised and motivated Finance Assistant to join our Central Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance and administration skills within a supportive and successful educational environment.

As Finance Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the Trust, helping to ensure accurate financial processing, record keeping and excellent service to our schools and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

You will support the Trust's finance function by:

  • Processing purchase orders and supplier invoices.
  • Processing monthly business card transactions and direct debits.
  • Recording and processing income receipts.
  • Assisting with month-end financial procedures and deadlines.
  • Raising sales invoices and following up outstanding debts.
  • Providing financial administrative support and advice to staff.
  • Responding to auditor queries when required.
  • Supporting the wider Central Team with additional administrative duties.
  • Travelling between Trust sites as necessary.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Possesses excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Has strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Can prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates a calm, flexible and professional approach.
  • Is committed to personal development and learning new skills.

Previous accounts or finance experience would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate. Experience of finance systems and working within a school or office environment would also be beneficial. There may also be the opportunity to increase hours of work as the role develops.
