Finance Assistant job summary
Finance Assistant - Term Time only plus 2 weeks on a Fixed Term Contract until October 2025
The Finance Assistant is often a first point of contact for the Finance Department and will therefore be expected to demonstrate exemplary customer service to both internal and external customers and be able to resolve problems and complaints in a sensitive manner. The post holder will be expected to be professional and flexible in line with the business needs of the Trust
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Purchase Orders – processing authorised purchase requisitions & sending to suppliers. Processing of online orders where appropriate. Liaising with both staff & suppliers to ensure value for money and correct delivery of goods.
- Invoice payments – Ensuring invoices are correctly approved, accurately processing authorised invoices for payment on a regular basis (from official orders, non order items and direct debits), using the school’s financial system, scanning and filing paid invoices.
- First point of contact for purchase ledger queries
- Maintaining relationships with suppliers.
- Income/sales ledger – raising sales invoices when needed and liaising with customers to ensure payment is received.
- Cash Book and journals – post cash book receipts and payments, including from the cashless system. Post credit card transactions and other journals as directed
- Provide information for internal and external audit as required
- Undertake general administrative duties as required
- Be prepared to work at other academies within the Trust if needed
