Food Technician job summary

Reigate School is seeking a committed and organised Food Technician to support our thriving Design & Technology / Food department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for food, education, and promoting high standards of health, safety, and hygiene. This is a part time role working 16 hours a week, 39 weeks a year.

You will play a key role in preparing materials, supporting practical lessons, and ensuring that our food technology facilities run efficiently and safely.

About You

  • Experience in a school, laboratory, or food preparation environment is desirable but not essential.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has an interest in food, nutrition, or food science
  • Is highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Can work independently as well as part of a team
  • Has good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical food lessons
  • Support teachers and students during food preparation sessions
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation in kitchens and classrooms
  • Monitor stock levels and manage ordering of ingredients and supplies
  • Assist with food product testing and basic evaluation activities
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g. HACCP)
  • Clean and store equipment safely after lessons
  • Support the department with administrative and organisational tasks
