Gatehouse Primary Teaching Assistant - fixed term - 3.5 days per week job summary

The First Federation Trust of multi academy trust of 29 primary schools across Devon and Dorset are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant to start in March at Gatehouse Primary Academy.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to work alongside the class teachers and other adults in the team, to support pupils with SEMH needs across the school. The hours are 22.5 This is a fixed term post until 31st August 2025.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Establish constructive relationships with the pupil and encourage interaction with others
  • Promote inclusion through the development of social skills, language and emotional wellbeing
  • Liase with other professionals both within and outside the school
  • Show a high degree of initiative and be able to react to given situations with integrity and compassion
  • You will need to be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude and can-do approach.

Experience of supporting children with the following is desirable:

  • children who have communication and interaction needs
  • children with emotional needs
  • children with autism
