General Administrator job summary

General Administrator

Pay Scale: H4.9 (£27,254), pro-rata (£19,320)

Term Time plus 7 Days (5 INSET Days & 2 Days in holidays)

Working hrs: 30.00 hrs weekly, to be worked over 5 days (Mondays - Fridays) per week. Hours to be worked from 09.00am to 3.30pm (half an hour unpaid lunch break)

Temporary Contract (October 2025 - October 2026)

We are looking to appoint a motivated, enthusiastic and committed person with a good sense of humour to join our team as a General Administrator within our Centre.

You will be the first point of contact for all procurement related documentation and queries, so exceptional organisational skills are a prerequisite.

The successful candidate will undertake a variety of tasks including general administration as set out in the job description and will possess excellent IT skills.

You will possess excellent communication and proven organisational skills and be approachable, calm and positive. You should be a team player, who is also able to work on your own and use your own initiative and have a high degree of confidentiality.

The duties and responsibilities listed in the job description are, as it is at present. The post holder is expected to accept any reasonable alterations that may from time to time be necessary.

North Herts Education Support Centre

The North Herts Education Support Centre is an Ofsted Outstanding Provider of educational programmes to support students who are at serious risk of permanent exclusion or who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school.

The centre’s vision is to inspire and enable all students to achieve their full potential.

At KS3 the focus of centre work is to re-engage the students with their learning and reintegrate them into a mainstream school or appropriate setting. The teaching support team works closely with all stakeholders in supporting students who are experiencing emotional, social, behaviour challenges that are impacting on their school success.

At KS4 students are provided with an alternative provision where it is acknowledged that a mainstream setting is not meeting their needs. Students are offered a wide variety of opportunities for accreditation, including GCSE courses (OCR, Pearson, AQA) and a number of Vocational courses (City and Guilds, BTEC, etc.)

The North Herts Education Support Centre’s success is built upon strong partnerships with schools and other services and most importantly, with young people and their parents and carers.
