What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking an experienced HLTA to provide PPA across the key stages and class cover, combined with a GTA role that includes MSA responsibilities, although the school are open to offers based on two individual posts. The successful HLTA will provide PPA cover for classes throughout the school and effectively deliver and assess pupils’ work; planning is provided. It is anticipated that the GTA role is based mostly in Early Years, however there is opportunity to work across a range of ages to both provide support as needed and to develop your skillset.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn and progress in your education career, either for a qualified HLTA or for a qualified teacher, who has perhaps had time out and would like to get back into education. However, we are open to taking on candidates who hold, are in the process of attaining, or have an ambition to gain their HLTA qualification. Sharow C of E School is passionate about staff continuing their professional development and provide numerous offers of CPD including peer-related opportunities internally, as well as with other local partnerships.

The successful candidate will embrace the unique character of our delightful church school and be an adaptable, resilient, and forward-thinking individual who has a passion for learning and is committed to providing high quality education for our children. All staff at our school hold high expectations and a genuine desire for children to flourish, and the successful candidate will share our vision and values, becoming a key part of our team.

What the school offers its staff

We would be delighted to welcome you to our beautiful village school with governors and senior leadership who are passionate for all staff and our 93 children alike to flourish. The school has track record of creating a happy and rewarding working environment for our team of 12 staff, who in turn work hard to fulfil our vision as a happy and thriving team. Situated in the beautiful rural North Yorkshire countryside, we have the benefit of being well-situated near Ripon, a thriving Cathedral city, with extensive immediate outside space in the beautiful village of Sharow.

We also offer our staff:

  • Enthusiastic and respectful children.
  • A friendly team of staff who are committed to nurturing everyone to flourish.
  • Welcoming and supportive parents.
  • Excellent support for professional development and strong links with cluster schools.

Commitment to safeguarding

Sharow CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. This post is subject to satisfactory references and enhanced DBS check for work with children. An online search may be undertaken as part of the recruitment process on information available in the public domain. Candidates should disclose anything that may be relevant in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education. We have a robust child protection policy and all staff will receive training at induction and throughout employment at the school. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
