Governance Manager job summary
The Corinium Education Trust is looking to recruit a highly skilled and motivated Governance Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced governance professional with a strong background in academy or school governance to play a key role in enabling the work of the Trust Board, its Committees, Members, and Local Governing Bodies across our schools.
Working closely with the Trust Lead (CEO), Chair of the Trust Board, and Director of Finance and Operations, you will ensure governance across the Trust is effective, compliant, and actively supports the delivery of our strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Act as Company Secretary, ensuring full compliance with company and charity law requirements.
- Manage all aspects of Trust Board, Committee, and Members' meetings, including preparing agendas, coordinating papers, and clerking aal meetings.
- Provide timely and accurate advice on governance, regulatory, and procedural matters.
- Lead and quality assure the work of the Trust’s team of clerks, including their training and development.
- Manage governance information and records across the Trust in line with education legislation, statutory requirements, and DfE guidance.
- Support the ongoing development of the Trust’s governance framework, systems, and processes.
- Promote best practice in governance and strong communication between the Trust Board, Local Governing Bodies, and Headteachers.
About you
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:
- Significant experience in academy or school governance, including supporting and clerking Boards and Committee.
- A strong understanding of the statutory and regulatory frameworks governing academy trusts.
- Excellent written, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to act with integrity, confidentiality, and professional independence.
- Experience of managing or supporting staff in a governance or other capacity.
- A DfE-accredited Governance Professional qualification or willingness to work towards it.
Working arrangements
This post is for 20 hours per week, term time plus 3 weeks. The successful position will be based at the Trust’s Office at Cirencester Deer Park School, however there is the opportunity for the post holder to work flexibly. Some clerking at evening meetings will be required as part of the role.
