Governance Professional (Clerk to the Governors) job summary

Contract: Part-time, as and when required (approx. 200 hours per year)
Pay: £19.58 per hour (includes holiday pay) AGS Band F Point 22: £17.47 per hour plus 12.07% holiday pay = £19.58 per hour

As a guide 200 hours + holiday pay = £19.58 x 200 hours = £3,916 per annum
Closing date: 8am, 5th November 2025

Alcester Grammar School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and well-organised Clerk to the Governors (Academy Governance Professional) to support the work of our Governing Body.

This key role provides professional advice and administrative support to ensure the effective operation of the school’s governance. The successful candidate will:

  • Organise and clerk meetings (approximately one evening per month)

  • Advise the Governing Body on governance, compliance and procedural matters

  • Maintain records, policies and statutory information

  • Support ongoing development of strong governance practices

The post offers flexible working hours, aside from scheduled meeting times, with most meetings held in person at school and a small number being virtual online meetings.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in education governance. Prior experience in a governance or clerking role is desirable but not essential — training and support will be available.
