As Head of Department, you will lead by example, driving high standards across the Business curriculum. You’ll play a vital role in shaping learning, supporting colleagues, and making a real difference in the lives of all our students. The ideal candidate will be a hardworking, supportive team member with a strong understanding of how young people learn and the ability to plan and deliver high‑quality teaching and learning.

What Makes Discovery Different:
- To ensure our teaching staff get the time and space to learn, we have launched - Teacher Development Time (TDT).
- By embracing technology, we’re able to deliver virtual lessons, allowing teachers to be released from their class each week, to focus on their own learning and development.
- In addition to their TDT, teachers also work alongside a coach, to ensure they have someone to discuss their learning with and help identify their strengths and areas for development.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach.
- Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate.
- Be accountable for the attainment, progress and outcomes of pupils’ you teach
- Be aware of pupils’ capabilities, their prior knowledge and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on this demonstrating knowledge and 2 of 5 understanding of how pupils learn

Qualifications:: Qualified to degree level including Qualified Teacher Status
