What skills and experience we're looking for
Candidates suitable for the role will:
- have strong subject knowledge and be confident in teaching Drama to high achieving students
- be confident teaching all key stages including A-level Drama
- be an excellent classroom practitioner who is prepared to be innovative in their teaching a
- provide extensive opportunities outside of the classroom that inspire and engage
- have the ability to communicate effectively with all staff, students and parents
- be passionate about personal and professional development and demonstrate a willingness to engage with the findings of evidence-based research through our whole school CPD programme.

We are seeking a Head of Drama who possesses the deep subject knowledge and leadership potential to inspire our curious, diverse and highly motivated students.
We greatly value the role that Drama plays in the curricular and extra-curricular life of the school and we celebrate the powerful impact of the performing arts on a young person’s intellectual and emotional development. Outcomes for 2025 were:
- GCSE: 96% of students achieved grades 9-7
- A Level: 100% of students achieved A*-B
- Extracurricular: There is an extensive range of performances throughout the year for our students across all key stages, which allows for many of the students to become involved in the whole process of theatre production.
While you must be confident in teaching Drama to A level, previous management experience is not essential. We are committed to nurturing talent and will provide support to help you develop the leadership skills required to head a department of this stature.

The Tiffin Girls’ School, a selective state school and stand-alone Academy, is a vibrant and happy community where the students take centre stage. The school is currently home to 1,235 students, aged between 11 and 18, and is now into its 143rd year.
