What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking an inspirational and forward-thinking Head of Design Technology to lead our talented DT department. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious educator with the vision, drive, and leadership skills to shape the future of Design Technology at Bridgwater College Academy.

As a leader, you will be responsible for setting high expectations, driving improvement across the department, and supporting colleagues to deliver innovative and engaging lessons that bring the subject to life. You will have the ability to inspire both students and staff, fostering creativity, resilience, and a passion for design in every learner.

The successful candidate will have strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach outstanding lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an individual who has:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Proven leadership experience or the aspiration and potential to lead a successful department

Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

The ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues to achieve excellence

A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to a supportive and ambitious team

A commitment to inclusion, high expectations, and ensuring that every child has access to the very best education
