Head of Governance & Compliance job summary
Working closely with the Chair, trustees, local governors and senior leaders, this is a highly influential role within our Trust. You will ensure our governance is strong, thoughtful and effective - enabling good decisions, appropriate challenge and clear accountability. You will lead our approach to governance, compliance and risk, making sure that we meet our responsibilities while continually improving how we work.
You will be an experienced governance professional who combines sound judgement and technical expertise with warmth, pragmatism and excellent relationship skills, who has the confidence to be a trusted adviser across the wider Trust. You will be comfortable advising and challenging senior leaders and trustees, while understanding that excellent governance is ultimately about helping our schools make better decisions for children and young people. As the Trust continues to develop and grow, you will bring both the confidence to lead change and the judgement to know what should remain stable.

- Type
- Multi-academy trust
The Trust has grown exponentially in the past five years, from two secondary schools in March 2020 to what is now a multi academy trust which includes five primary and three secondary schools, including sixth form provision. Alongside this we are home to a growing number of teacher development and school improvement organisations that support schools and teachers across South London, the south east and sometimes nationally.
We continue to grow our impact not only through our schools’ great work, but also via our Charter Institute. The Institute leads the work of our Teaching School Hub, Behaviour Hub, Flexible Working Ambassador School, Challenge Partners Hub, Research School and Early Years Stronger Practice hub. We believe all children and young people should attend a great school with great teachers, and we help schools on their journey to achieving and sustaining excellence.
