Head of Governance job summary

Head of Governance

£73,000 per annum

Hybrid working, London - 35 hours/week, all year round

This is a unique and exciting time to join us. We are in the process of merging with Eko Trust, a partner we have collaborated with for years. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring our governance structures are ready for this new, larger organisation, which will serve over 9,000 children and include over 1,500 staff across seven local authority areas.

We are looking for a Head of Governance with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to join our dynamic team. This is a key strategic leadership position in our Executive Team, where you will ensure the effectiveness of our governance and help us achieve our goals.

You will have the support of a dedicated administrative team to handle the day-to-day tasks, freeing you to focus on the big picture. We want you to lead and shape the future of governance across our entire Trust, building on our strong foundations to take us to the next level.

If you are a proactive and strategic leader ready to make a significant impact during a period of growth and transformation, we want to hear from you. This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking Trust committed to providing high-quality, inclusive education. Your role will be pivotal to our success.

Our fantastic employee offer includes:

National Terms and Conditions.

Access to the LGPS pension scheme.

Entry to our Employee Benefits Platform, which comes with some lovely shopping discounts!

Access to our Employee Assistance Programme which includes access to a confidential advisory service 24/7 365 days per year.

Opportunities for Continued Professional Development

The Trust’s base is in London, currently SE9, but likely to move to a more central London location, and there will be some travel to our schools across the 7 local authorities. Access to a car for this travel is highly desirable. We also know that to empower our people to do their best work, they must be able to balance the demands of work and home and so there will be regular opportunities for home-working.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils. Any offer will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Trust is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on age, disability, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or any other protected characteristic. We believe that a workforce that reflects the diversity of our community enhances our ability to provide the best education for our pupils.

If you are interested in this position and would like to have a more detailed, informal conversation before making the decision to apply for the post, please contact our COO Kate Jarrett-Shorter at kjarrett@compassps.uk, who will be happy to provide as much detail as possible to support the process.

Closing date: 13th October, midday

Interviews will be held on 21st October
