An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and inspirational Head of PE & Sport Science to work within our middle leadership team, collaboratively, to take the school onto the next stage of its improvement journey.

We are looking for a Head of PE & Sport Science who:
• Can set a clear vision for the PE department, aligned to the values of the school, to ensure the best possible learning experience for all pupils in all years.
• Is a major contributor to the outcomes and leadership of our school.
• Ensures excellent outcomes at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 for all pupils in PE, across all year groups, regardless of background or prior attainment.
• Will lead the department and its staff to ensure a consistent approach and wider sharing of best practice, benefitting all learners.
• Will support and encourage all PE staff in curriculum development and continuous professional development.
• Will foster, promote and coordinate cross-curricular approaches and developments.
• Is responsible for an ongoing review of the PE curriculum through liaison with SLT.
• Will effectively timetable and to contribute as necessary to the planning of the school timetable.
• Will maintain an up to date set of schemes of learning, in-line with the school’s approaches, ensuring a knowledge rich curriculum is embedded throughout KS3 to prepare students for the Cambridge Nationals in Sport Science at KS4.
• Will work with the PE Technician to ensure the classroom and departmental environment supports teaching and learning and is a vibrant place to learn for all, alongside establishing a thorough and exciting extra curriculum and fixture programme, that appeals to all students.
• Can actively recruit Sixth Form learners onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Extended Certificate in Sport Science, as well as an increased participation of PE at Level 2 on the Cambridge National in Sport Science course.
• Maintain our strong Sport Leadership provision at both Level 1 and 3; working with our local primary feeder schools to plan and deliver many events, tournaments and festivals.
• Liaise with external providers to establish strong links with promotion of careers in sport, such as university inspiration visits, guest speakers etc.

Our school is situated on the beautiful North Cornish Coast and is at the heart of the Bude community .

Budehaven Community School is well respected within and beyond our community, and provides a varied and ambitious, knowledge rich curriculum from Year 7 through to Year 13 that prepares our students for their futures beyond school.
