Head of PE and Sport job summary

Following the retirement of the current post holder, we are seeking to appoint a passionate, well-qualified Head of PE and Sport to provide stimulating, dynamic and effective leadership for this vital area of our school. The successful candidate will encourage initiative and innovation, further develop a curriculum that fosters a love of the subject as well as achieve high level student outcomes through enthusiasm and expertise.
The successful candidate will lead a well-established team and will be highly motivated about providing all students with the very best educational opportunities and believe in the importance of excellent teaching in PE and Sport to inspire students.

The Head of PE and Sport is supported by Key Stage 3 and 4 Core PE Leaders. The department has also great experience in successfully mentoring both ITT trainees and ECTs.

Wood Green Academy is a large 11-19 multicultural comprehensive school set in Wednesbury in the heart of the Black Country. The academy is located about 15km from the centre of Birmingham and has excellent national links by having the M5 and M6 nearby. It is an innovative, creative and forward thinking school held in high regard locally and nationally. The Academy has a long standing reputation for achieving some of the best GCSE and Post 16 results in the local area. In our most recent Ofsted of February 2020 the school was judged to be good with outstanding features. We are extremely proud of being one of a small number of secondary schools in the country to have been graded as outstanding for behaviour and attitudes under the new framework.
