Head of People (Maternity Cover) job summary
Are you an experienced Head of People with demonstratable experience of leading HR/People for a large organisation? Are you a creative but critical thinker, solutions focused and used to operating in a fast-paced organisation?
Astrea Academy Trust is seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of People to join our team on a 9/12-month fixed term contract as maternity cover.

Ensuring we have frameworks and processes for our people to work within creating a healthy culture where people flourish and thrive supports them to deliver their best work. The strength of the People and Organisational department is crucial in supporting this aim.
Reporting to the Director of People and Organisational Development, the Head of People will provide strategic leadership to the department and lead the people partnering, people operations and recruitment services incorporating of employee relations, wellbeing, generalist support, HRIS and MIS, people data, payroll, recruitment, onboarding and contract administration.
During this period, we are prioritising the development of our systems and processes, enhancing automation and integrating data to provide meaningful insights, ranging from descriptive to predictive and prescriptive analytics. Your contribution will be pivotal in leading this change.
Astrea has circa 2000 people across 27 sites, so relationship building with senior leaders is crucial in delivering the professional services across Astrea as the centre of expertise.
Under the leadership of the Director of People and Organisational Development, you will lead and support the growth and development of the People team, delivering a customer-focused service across the entire employee lifecycle. With a strong emphasis on process excellence, change management, and project delivery, you will ensure an impactful and efficient service provision.
You will deliver a professional and confidential employment law service, ensuring legal compliance and governance across people related matters, mitigating risk and supporting executive decisions with legal and ethical advice.
Additionally, you will provide insightful people analytics to support strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement across the Trust.
