Further details about the role

We are looking to appoint a high-calibre leader for ourReligion and Philosophy department. As a faith school, the teaching of Religion and Philosophy is hugely important for us and our learners, and all students take the full GCSE at the end of Key Stage 4.

St Andrew the Apostle School is the only state-maintained Greek Orthodox secondary school in the UK and the successful candidate will be someone who has an interest in Orthodox Christianity or is open to expanding and developing their knowledge of it, to support and uphold the faith identity of our school. They will lead a department committed to raising academic standards for all students whilst supporting the spiritual and moral development of the whole person. These will be key elements as we prepare for our Section 48 inspection.

Students at St Andrew appreciate being taught well and enjoy their learning; student feedback from Curriculum Reviews in RP is extremely positive. Our GCSE results are consistently strong with whole school Progress 8 of + 0.4 in 2024 and our RP results feed into this success.

Closing date for applications: 7 February 2025 at 9.00am.
