Head of School job summary
At Co-op Academy Princeville, we are passionate about providing a nurturing and dynamic learning environment where every child is empowered to reach their full potential. We believe that our colleagues are key to fostering a love for learning and curiosity in our students.
The scope of the role will be determined by negotiation with both the Executive Headteacher and, where necessary, Regional Director and could include detailed specifics within any area but as a general guide, the Head of School position will encompass:
- The vast majority of all operational matters at the academy, including managing all locally accountable systems relating to the daily running of the academy (for example, but not exclusively, quality of education, behaviour, attendance, communication, building management etc)
- Being the key driver for the strategic vision for the academy, subject to challenge and support from the Executive Headteacher and Regional Director
- Leading on academy improvement initiatives and being accountable for the impact of these on all aspects of performance, including pupils’ achievement, attendance, behaviour and stakeholders’ views
- Being the direct point of contact for the Academy Governing Council (AGC)
- The line management, development and performance management of staff.
- The scheme of delegation in the Academy details the roles and responsibilities of the ‘Principal’. The Head of School should assume these responsibilities to be theirs unless otherwise agreed with the Executive Headteacher.
All our values are based upon the values of the Co-op Group, which will inform our behaviours.
Self-help: We do not expect to be spoon fed – we will try to do things for ourselves in the right way and at the right time.
Self-responsibility: Everyone should act in a responsible way around the academy site and in the local community. We take responsibility for our own learning; we want to become independent learners.
Equality: We are proud to be part of a very multicultural academy, with students from all over the world; it is important that we treat each other with respect and accept that others may be different from ourselves. We should all of us have equal chances to succeed.
Equity: We want to look for the best in each other. Rewarding others fairly to encourage all types of achievement.
Democracy: We will contribute our ideas to make the academy a success.
Solidarity: We can achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.

Being part of the Co-operative Group, we are both guided and driven by the Co-op values which are embedded in everything that we do within our Academy - We strive to demonstrate the following ethical values in everything we do - they are our ‘Ways of Being’:
