What skills and experience we're looking for
Fulham Primary School is now firmly established as a vibrant, high‑achieving and highly regarded community, with a growing reputation for excellence. Following a recent Ofsted inspection in which the school was judged Outstanding in all areas, the school is entering an exciting new phase in its development, and we are looking for a Head of School who will help us continue driving this ambitious vision forward.
As part of a cluster of five United Learning schools, Fulham Primary School benefits from a highly effective leadership network. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Principal and alongside four other experienced Heads of School. This provides exceptional opportunities for collaboration, shared practice, professional support and leadership development.
We want the school to continue improving academically so that children achieve exceptionally well. We are therefore seeking a leader with the highest expectations – someone committed to continuous improvement and who believes that extraordinary success is possible for every child. You will be an effective team builder with a clear sense of direction, supporting and developing staff while driving strong performance.
United Learning is deeply committed to the progress, success and safeguarding of all children and young people. We believe in serving local communities by creating excellent schools that deliver outstanding education and support every child. Our head of school’s play a central role not only in leading their own schools but also in contributing to the collective leadership of the group. By working together, we aim to offer more than any single school could achieve alone: we support and develop leaders, provide exceptional professional development for all staff, and broaden the opportunities available to children and young people.
We are committed to fairness, diversity and inclusion. We are actively working to increase the representation of Black, Asian and minority ethnic leaders at headship level and to ensure that the proportion of women in leadership reflects their representation across our wider workforce. Whoever you are, if you have a strong track record of improving young people’s education and the drive to achieve even more, we would be delighted to hear from you.
If you wish to discover more about this exciting opportunity, need any further information or would like to have an informal discussion please contact Seamus Gibbons, Executive Principal at seamus.gibbons@langfordprimary.org.uk
What the school offers its staff
United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.
United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. The subject specialists, Group-wide intranet, own curriculum, and online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.
As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options.
United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.
Here at United Learning, we are committed to ensuring our employees feel valued and appreciated. Because we are a group, we can reward you better than any school could alone, and this includes your employee benefits. By working for us you will benefit from more pay, more time, and more support.
- We pay an average of 5% above national scales – the best rates of pay in the sector.
- We offer starting salaries of £43,680 in Inner London, and £36,400 nationally.
- We offer a health cash plan giving you money towards essential medical treatment.
- Our staff discount scheme saves you money on supermarket shopping, gym memberships, holidays and more.
- All our academies start every term with an additional INSET day set aside for your own planning (in addition to the usual five INSET days - giving you eight in total).
- At least one guaranteed paid personal day each year, to use as you want.
- We offer opportunities for flexible working.
- We provide high quality training and development for every stage in your career.
- Every teacher benefits from a bespoke development plan to support your progression and aspirations.
- We give you access to a high-quality curriculum with excellent resources.
- Benefit from support from expert subject advice.
- Access to a comprehensive wellbeing programme, providing support with issues from legal and financial to family and housing; access to free counselling; and other wellbeing support.
