What the school offers its staff

The curriculum is broad and balanced, a real strength in middle schools, with specialist provision in music, DT, Computing, P.E. and art in all year groups. Teaching staff work as a dynamic and cohesive team, with a good understanding of learning across various subjects, made easier by the size and type of school. Curriculum development has been a priority in the current academic year, with close links and support from Wessex Teach.

We have 10 teaching staff on NPQ courses, which is indicative of the desire for professional development. This year 2 Curriculum Leaders were appointed in order to drive the curriculum forward.

The Governing Body is experienced and supportive and we also have a PTA that generates considerable additional funding for the school. As Chair, I meet with the Head on a bi-weekly basis with other governors active in regular school visits around their area of focus as a governor.

We have an excellent team of staff. They benefit from being in a bigger family of schools in the Wessex Multi-Academy Trust offering many opportunities for professional development and further career progression. As a school leader new to post you will get extensive support from the Governing Body and from the Multi-Academy Trust.

Commitment to safeguarding

Wessex Multi-Academy Trust is committed to Equal Opportunities and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
