What skills and experience we're looking for

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational Head of Science to join our thriving middle school in September 2026. The ideal candidate will have a strong pedagogical understanding in order to support the implementation of their vision for the department across KS2 and KS3. Candidates must have strong leadership skills and have a sound understanding of the science curriculum at KS2 and KS3. The successful candidate will demonstrate their understanding of the importance of maintaining curiosity within science at KS2 and KS3 and will play a key role in continuing to develop the Science curriculum to best meet the needs and interests of all our pupils.

The Science department is well equipped with two modern laboratories. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about their subject.

The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative and supportive environment, contributing to raising standards for all pupils. High quality Science provision at this stage is vital in laying secure foundations and inspiring confidence, ensuring every pupil leaves Year 8 ready for the demands and opportunities of high school and beyond.

You must be:

  • able to demonstrate a wide range of engaging teaching strategies that secure strong outcomes for all
  • able to work effectively in partnership as a member of our dynamic and supportive staff team, and be an integral part of our school family
