What skills and experience we're looking for

Required for September 2025

Shireland CBSO Academy is part of the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust providing staff with opportunities to progress both within the school, and across the Trust.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to lead Science at a brand-new academy, with the potential to shape your career with us as the academy grows. Although Music is a specialism of the school, we ensure our students have a broad and balanced curriculum with the same access to non-music related subjects as any other school.

Shireland CBSO Academy is an exciting new school which opened to Year 7 in September 2023 and is the first state school in the country to have a partnership with a professional orchestra. Based in Providence Place, West Bromwich, the Academy works in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and serves all of Sandwell and the wider West Midlands. The Academy is for all students who have a passion or talent for music – they do not necessarily need to already play an instrument.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have the ability to teach Science and motivate students across all ability ranges and key stages
  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with high expectations
  • Have the ability to lead and motivate staff to deliver to the highest standards
  • Committed to raising standards for all

What the school offers its staff

In return we will offer:

  • Opportunities across our MAT to enhance skills and experience across all Key Stages
  • Excellent career and professional development opportunities
  • A focus on staff wellbeing
  • An ICT rich environment which allows staff to be innovative in harnessing technology for learning
  • State of the art facilities
  • Supportive working environment and team ethos
