ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of Spanish to lead our dynamic Modern Foreign Languages provision at Trinity Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and committed Spanish specialist to shape the future of language learning, inspire a love for Spanish language and culture, and drive outstanding student outcomes.


As Head of Spanish, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a knowledge‑rich and culturally enriching Spanish curriculum, ensuring all students have access to high‑quality language education. You will lead and support a team of languages teachers, fostering a culture of excellence, enthusiasm, and linguistic ambition within the department.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Spanish curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a rigorous, knowledge‑rich curriculum in Spanish, ensuring clear progression from Key Stage 3 to GCSE and beyond.
  • Inspire and support students to develop strong linguistic skills, cultural understanding, and a passion for Spanish.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of MFL teachers to enhance pedagogical expertise and secure exceptional student outcomes.
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to support achievement across all key stages.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to promote Spanish and wider language learning within the school community


THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE:

  • A strong academic record, ideally with a 2:1 degree or above in Spanish, Hispanic Studies, or a closely related discipline.
  • A deep passion for the Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures, alongside excellent linguistic competence.
  • Proven leadership experience, or a clear vision for leading and developing an outstanding Spanish or MFL department.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both staff and students.
  • A commitment to high standards and a drive to raise achievement in Spanish and wider language learning.
  • An unwavering belief in the power of education to transform lives, in line with our trust’s motto, libertas per cultum (freedom through education).
