What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Head of Year 12 & 13 to join our dedicated team at Chatham Grammar on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2025. This exciting leadership role combines responsibility for a teaching timetable in addition to your Head of Year duties, with the specific timetable tailored to your teaching specialism, offering flexibility for the right candidate. An earlier start date may be negotiated for candidates available after Easter.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students throughout their academic journey and ensuring that Year 12 and 13 students receive the best possible guidance and support. You will play a key role in driving academic progress, improving student retention and attendance, and ensuring all students reach their full potential. Working closely with the Sixth Form Hub Leader, you will develop and implement strategies to raise achievement and progress and foster a strong, collegiate culture within the Sixth Form.
As Head of Year 12 & 13, you will oversee student progress, using data to identify and address areas of concern while also leading intervention programmes to support students’ academic development. You will play an essential role in creating enrichment and leadership opportunities, supporting students with their university, apprenticeship, and training applications, and ensuring a smooth transition to their future pathways.
With excellent communication skills, you will work collaboratively with parents, students, and staff to provide pastoral support and address any concerns. You will help maintain a positive learning environment by promoting high standards of behaviour and attitudes to learning, supporting students to overcome challenges and leading motivational interventions. Additionally, you will lead the Internal Exam Board process to ensure the rigour and validity of assessments.
At Chatham Grammar, we pride ourselves on providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment where staff are encouraged to engage in continuous professional development. This role provides an exciting opportunity for an individual who is proactive, creative, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of students.
If you are a dedicated and resilient individual with the skills to inspire and lead students through their crucial final years of school, we would love to hear from you.

The successful applicant will be responsible and resilient and, in return, will be coming to a multi-academy trust-wide supportive learning environment, characterised by open management, and in the knowledge that they will enjoy the full support and care of the pragmatic (and down-to-earth) leadership team.
