What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a Headteacher who shares our belief that every child can succeed. We are looking for an inspiring, compassionate and visible leader who will build on the strong foundations already in place while bringing the vision, energy and expertise to lead our school into its next chapter.

The successful candidate will be passionate about inclusion and have a strong understanding of supporting pupils with SEND. They will be committed to securing the highest standards of teaching, learning and wellbeing, ensuring that every child is known, valued and able to thrive.

You will have a proven ability to lead school improvement, improve outcomes for all pupils and work collaboratively with staff, governors, parents and external partners. With excellent communication and relationship-building skills, you will unite our community behind a shared ambition for excellence while nurturing the warm, supportive culture that makes Alverton such a special place to learn and work.

The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on approach, demonstrating the resilience, financial awareness and determination needed to lead the school confidently through its next phase of development

What the school offers its staff

This is a unique opportunity to lead a warm, inclusive and ambitious primary school at an exciting stage in its development. Alverton Community Primary School is a well-established and highly valued part of the Northallerton community, with enthusiastic pupils, a committed staff team and a dedicated Governing Body who share a clear ambition for the future.

We are seeking an inspirational and values-led Headteacher who will build on the school's many strengths, champion inclusion and SEND provision, and drive the next phase of school improvement. Whether you are an ambitious Deputy or Assistant Headteacher ready to take the next step into headship, or an experienced Headteacher seeking a new challenge, you will have the vision, leadership skills and commitment to build on our strong foundations and lead the school into its next phase of development. You will inherit a caring school with a strong community ethos, improving attendance and behaviour, experienced leaders and a culture where children and staff are supported to thrive.

The successful candidate will have the vision and determination to improve outcomes for all pupils, particularly in writing, further strengthen our provision for children with SEND, and work collaboratively with governors, staff, families and partners to realise our shared ambition of ensuring every child can Aim High, Dream Big and Achieve Together.

We offer the opportunity to make a lasting difference, supported by a committed Governing Body, a talented staff team, strong local partnerships and a school community that is ready to embrace its next chapter.

We can offer you:

  • A Governing Body committed to providing support on all matters including more sensitive or difficult issues and including the wellbeing of all staff members.
