What skills and experience we're looking for

The governing body of Brunswick Community Primary School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic Headteacher to join our school due to the career development of the existing postholder. The post will commence in September 2024, however this is negotiable for the right candidate.

Brunswick is a much larger than average sized primary school, including nursery. The children at Brunswick describe us as healthy and active, with a proud sustainable ethos, including the eco-schools green flag award. The school serves a diverse community in the Woodhouse area of Sheffield. We are a foundation school and are part of the Crucible Cooperative Trust with two other local schools. We have a dedicated and enthusiastic staff team, who are supportive of each other. The governors are looking for an inspirational Headteacher to build on the success of the current postholder, by leading the school into an exciting future.

This is an exciting time to join the school. We are part of the DfE’s school rebuilding program and will have a brand new school built on the site. We have recently been inspected and received a continued, positive outcome.

As Head teacher you will lead our school, with enthusiasm, positivity, and

purpose. You will work to ensure that every child reaches their full personal and

academic potential. Your excellent communication and strong management

skills will quickly gain the trust, respect and commitment of staff and the support

of the whole school community.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an experienced school leader with a proven track record of delivering whole school improvement.
  • Have the vision to lead the whole school, building on the success of the current Headteacher
  • Be able to lead and inspire others and to manage people effectively
  • Be an inspiring and skilled teacher
  • Be passionate about teaching and learning, able to support and challenge colleagues to improve, implementing effective school-wide systems and practices
  • Have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be able to work and communicate effectively with the whole school community
  • Lead by example, embracing accountability while setting and maintaining high standards for all pupils and staff
  • Be committed to working in partnership with our Deputy Headteacher and wider SLT, with the energy and stamina to realise a shared vision for our children
  • Be ambitious for our school, our wider community and every learner within it
  • Value children on their individual strengths and have a strong commitment to inclusion and SEND provision
  • Work closely with Governors, who take an active interest in the progress of the school

What the school offers its staff

We can offer you:

  • a friendly and mutually supportive place to learn and work
  • a committed staff and governor team with a positive attitude: we are all passionate about giving our children and families an excellent education
  • enthusiastic pupils and a wider community who want the very best for their children
  • the opportunity to make a difference
  • a strong commitment to professional development, giving you opportunities to develop your own passions and interests within education
  • opportunities to work collaboratively with schools in the cooperative trust and with colleagues from Learn Sheffield
