Headteacher Corfe Hills School, Broadstone, Dorset

Job description

The Role

Corfe Hills is a high performing school, having made excellent progress in recent years. We are determined not to stand still, but ambitious to ensure that our improvement continues on the same trajectory in the coming years.

The governors are seeking to appoint a Headteacher with proven leadership skills and a clear vision and to lead the school from 1 September 2020. You will be supported by a dedicated and talented senior leadership team, teachers, support staff and governors who are all committed to serving the school and its community.

As a leader you will:

• Be passionate about wanting every student to aspire and achieve their wildest dreams.
• Have a proven track record of leading change; able to inspire and drive excellence throughout the school.
• Be a strategic leader; able to challenge and motivate, creating a culture that facilitates the highest quality learning through the highest quality teaching standards.
• Be an excellent communicator, able to connect successfully with staff, students, parents and governors.
• Be a person of creativity, energy and integrity.

Corfe Hills is in the process of extending its present collaboration with local schools to join a small local community MAT. The culture, ethos and operating principles of this enlarging MAT are being shaped by all the schools involved. It is expected that our Headteacher will take a leading role in this. The existing Castleman Academy Trust comprises Broadstone Middle and First Schools. The other schools which are also considering joining Castleman at the same time are Ferndown Upper School, Ferndown Middle and First Schools and Parley First School. The proposed conversion date for the extended MAT is 1 September 2020.

Living Here

Corfe Hills School is in a fabulous location within easy reach of Bournemouth and its beaches, Poole and its harbour, the Jurassic Coast and the Dorset countryside. The school serves the catchment area of Broadstone, Corfe Mullen and the wider area and we truly believe that all of our students are exceptional. Whilst the school was graded as “requires improvement” in November 2017, two years later, following three years of significant and sustained improvement, it has changed almost beyond recognition.

The 2019 GCSE results are exceptional with a Progress 8 score of +0.39 putting Corfe Hills in the top 20% of schools nationally and Progress 8 in Maths of +0.8 putting the results in the top 5% of schools nationally.
